Albert Tiu
Born in Cebu, Philippines, pianist Albert Tiu has been described as .“an artist of uncommon abilities.” by American Record Guide. He has performed as soloist with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Hamburg Symphony, Finnish Radio Symphony, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Winnipeg Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Michigan Chamber Symphony, Johannesburg Philharmonic, Cape Town Philharmonic, Guangzhou Symphony, Philippine Philharmonic and Juilliard Symphony, among others. In 2005, he gave the Singapore premiere of Samuel Barber.’s Piano Concerto with the Singapore Symphony under Tang Muhai in the Esplanade Concert Hall. His 2006 Chopin/Skryabin solo recital earned him a glowing review as .“a true artist.” in the Singapore Straits Times. An accomplished chamber musician, he has collaborated with the T.’ang Quartet, St. Lawrence String Quartet, Ysa˙e Quartet, Muir String Quartet, violinists Pierre Amoyal, Cho-Liang Lin, Qian Zhou and Robert McDuffie, cellist Qin Li Wei, clarinetist Charles Neidich, tenor Robert White, and in duo-piano concerts with Thomas Hecht. He has recorded two solo CDs, .“Variations.” on the Arktos Canada label, and .“Salamisim.” (Reminiscence) on Bookmark Audio Philippines. His next CD, .“Nocturnal Fantasies.”, featuring the music by Chopin and Skryabin, will be released by Centaur Records in 2010.
Michael Süssmann
Michael Süssmann started to play the violin at 5, and made his first public performance at 7 as soloist with an orchestra in Bergen, Norway. Later, he studied with Ernst Glaser and Karsten Andersen, the latter also the chief conductor at Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. By 1980 he was the concert master of Tromsų Symphony Orchestra, and also the director of the string section at Tromsų Music School. Some years later, Süssmann`s solo career made it possible for him to be a full time freelancer, combined with a teaching position in Os School of Music near Bergen, Norway. In 1997, he became Artistic Director of MusicaNord, a concert society which produces 130 concerts every year. Süssmann founded the Bergen International Chamber Music Festival and has performed in USA, Asia, in addition to his many concerts in European countries. His schedule for the upcoming year (2011) includes tours in Russia, Portugal, Canada, Italy, Spain, Slovenia and Germany and several concerts in Europe.. Süssmann has devoted significant amount of his time to help young and talented artists to have the opportunity to perform in a professional environment. He is also the chairman for the annual Ole Bull Prize. He plays a Michelangelo Bergonzi violin, Cremona.
