Roger Lord
Canadian pianist Roger Lord studied at the University of Moncton, McGill University and Montreal University as well as in Paris and Strasbourg, France. He carried off First Prizes in both the Canadian Music Competition and the Canadian National Competitive Festival of Music. He holds a doctorate degree in music and is a professor of pianoforte at the University of Moncton.
His playing has taken him to some of the wor|d's great cities and concert venues: Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. Argentina: Auditorium Paganini in Parma. Italy; the Cairo Opera House in Egypt; the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul, Korea and the Great Hall of the People on Tianamen Square in Beijing, China. He has also performed as piano soloist with symphony orchestras in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
Critics have been enthusiastic and acknowledge "his skillful talent, his great subtIety... his genuine emotional generosity"
In 2004 he recorded a CD of piano works by the 19th century Louisiana composer and virtuoso Louis Moreau Gottschalk This CD recording has been acclaimed by critics and obtained tremendous success.
Some of his projects for 2006 include a new CD recording in China of Chinese piano music, recitals in Asia, Canada and Europe, specihcally in Vienna, Austria, for the "Mozart 1756-2006“ ceIebrations.
His recital for BMS will include works by HandeI, Mozart, Chopin, Gershwin, as well as by Canadian and Chinese composers.
