Blindman's Holiday
Background
Blindman formed in 1985 as an a cappella ensemble and quickly established itself as one of the most imaginative singing groups in Australia. The term a cappella refers to singing without instrumental accompaniment. The four vocalists perform a wide and exciting range of music from around the world with inventive close harmonies enhanced by tight percussion sounds from goblet drums, frame drums and hand percussion.
Their love of tribal, choral. exotic and dance music has led to an astoundingly varied repertoire which, for want of a better word, is usually classed as world music. The geographical origins of their music may take the listener to Hungary, Norway, Columbia, Vietnam, Japan, Ghana, Congo, Indonesia, Trinidad & Tobago, China, Jamaica, Korea, Lebanon, Australia and places beyond. They have toured extensively throughout Australia and Europe and have made a number of recordings. Their latest CD. 'About Time' , has just been released and includes both original and traditional songs. It has already met with much acclaim.
