Background
Sonya Bach has won numerous international awards and received the highest critical acclaim following performances in some of the world‘s most prestigious concert halls in Barcelona, Budapest, Chicago, Monte Carlo, New York, Prague and Seoul. She has also been guest soloist with many international orchestras. She made her first public appearance at age five and orchestra debut at age nine playing Mozart Concerto No. 17 with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra.
At twelve. she moved to New York City to attend the Juilliard School and was nominated by the Principal of the Pre-College Division to appear at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. Sonya made her first European tour to Prague and Budapest when she was fifteen, performing a solo recital programme, the Schumann Concerto in A minor and MacDowelI Concerto No.2 in D minor.
Sonya was then invited by the late Lazar Berman to attend the prestigious Accademia Pianistica "lncontri con Maestro" in lmola. Italy. The same year, as the youngest participant, she won top prizes at the St. Charles International Piano Competition in the United States and ItaIy’s ECO International Music Competition.
Recently world renowned conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev praised Sonya as “the greatest pianist I ever saw'. Having heard Sonya perform, he immediately invited her to make her Moscow debut playing the Schumann and Britten concerti with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. This year, she has been nominated "Steinway Artist" by Steinway in Hamburg. Her 2006 concert season includes London‘s prestigious Wigmore Hall debut, a number of chamber music recitals In Italy, a recital in BarceIona, and a tour of Asia. She will also record her debut album, a programme of music by Robert Schumann.
